For the last few months I have been relatively quiet on DA and I'm here to say that I will continue to be until July. I will reply to and supply comments when I can but if I'm not quick to respond to your messages, I apologise.

Anyway, hope everyone's doing well.

Okay, so I'm listing ten fandoms and picking a favourite character from each. Feel free to google any fandoms you don't recognise. Tagged by BlueNightFire.

So, in no particular order....

1. Baldur's Gate - Xzar

"I wanted infravision like the elves, but tis' more than just taking their eyes."

My favourite series of games of all time. I have played both BG1 and BG2 more times than I can recall and have probably sunk a good portion of my life into them. If you don't already know, Baldur's Gate is a top down isometric fantasy RPG which is set within Forgotten Realms' land known as Faerun. More specifically, it's set on the Sword Coast, which is along the eastern coast of the continent. It follows the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition rule set and yeah... it's great. You play as a created character My favourite character from the series is Xzar who is a chaotic evil mage. He's completely mad and I love that. Unfortunately he's only a joinable NPC in the first game, however he does make an appearance in the second as a quest giver.

2. Red Dwarf - Arnold Rimmer

"You can't frighten me, I'm a coward, I'm always scared!"

This show shaped my childhood along with a number of other British comedies. 

3. Monty Python (everything they've ever done) - Michael Palin

"I was terrified of him. Everyone was terrified of Doug. I've seen grown men pull their own heads off rather than see Doug. Even Dinsdale was frightened of Doug. He used sarcasm. He knew all the tricks, dramatic irony, metaphor, bathos, puns, parody, litotes and... satire."

I had the pleasure of actually meeting Michael Palin a couple of years ago and it was horrible. I just freaked the fuck out and stood there and stared at him. I just had absolutely no idea what to say to him. I was supposed to ask a question but for the life of me I couldn't bloody think of one.

4. Lord of the Rings - Gandalf

“The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last, the great battle of our time.”

No explaining needed here. Badass mofo of a wizard.

5. Dragonlance - Tanis Half-Elven

"According to humans, half an elf is but part of a whole being. Half a man is a cripple."

Picking a favourite character from the Dragonlance universe is beyond tough. It's a toss up between Tanis, Tasslehoff and Raistlin but in the end I think Tanis wins it for me. He's the unlikely but natural leader of the group.

6. Avatar: The Last Airbender: Sokka

 "This is the kind of wacky, time wasting nonsense I've been missing!"

Yes.

7. Discworld - The Patrician, Lord Vetinari

"Lord Vetinari could outstare a statue and make even a statue start to feel nervous and confess."

Honestly my favourite Discworld character changes every day. In the running I also have The Librarian, Rob Anybody, Vimes, Granny Weatherwax, the Luggae and, of course, Death. 

8. Marvel (X-Men more specifically) - Gambit and Magneto

"The name is GAMBIT! REMEMBER IT!"

Funnily enough I always hated Magneto when I was a kid. Gambit was instantly my favourite though and remained so. I was first introduced to them through The Animated Series.

9. Firefly - Hoban Washburne

"I am a leaf on the wind..."

Again, no explaining needed.

10. Farscape - Ka D'Argo

"That is your plan? To hit him with a rock, when they have these, like, shield things?

It was a hard choice between D'Argo and Pilot but I think that D'Argo has the most development of anyone in the series.

Hey guys! I'm just spreading the word on a new project that SGT-Stories has started. Seems like great fun for artists and writers alike. See below for the details...



I am Antine, and I am very proud to announce that my game has begun. I know you're bursting with excitement and ready to begin, but let's take a moment and explain what it is I'm doing here.

I have created a group to test the mettle of the humans of this world. I have looked through the art and literature on this internet of yours, and what I have seen satisfies me, so I want to propose a challenge: I want to see who can create characters talented, powerful and cooperative enough to win my contest.

The terms of this contest are very simple. Sixty-four deviants will participate in a grand battle on a world of my choosing. They will each create a pair of characters, and those characters will work as a team and interact with the others, each team fighting to be the very best. The pair that manages to make it to the very end will win a very precious thing: a single wish which I will grant. This wish can be used for anything at all. A loved one can be brought back to life, a purse full of infinitely many gold coins can appear in their hand, or they can gain godlike powers of their own, if that is what they so wish.

Perhaps even more enticing: the deviant who wins this tournament of mine will gain $200, transferred directly to their PayPal account, as well as a 1-year core membership. Their characters (or their written tale, if that is what they so wish) will also be featured for all to see and appreciate, and I imagine that would bring quite the spike in watchers and activity.

But I’m getting ahead of myself here. Before victory can be achieved, teams need to be chosen. This is where I challenge you, wonderful deviants: show me your prowess. Create a team and show me what they are made of.

Just a super quick post-birthday update...

So it was my birthday yesterday and I had a pretty good day. I did a short course in the morning and went out for dinner in the afternoon with my fam. We went to a super 'classy' pub and I got a super 'classy' meal of bangers and mash In terms of gifts my middle bro made me a black forest cake (pictured below) and my boyf got me a Hufflepuff hoodie (also pictured below. It explains all the random Harry Potter questions he's been asking me lately. He himself isn't really a total fan) and a keyboard. Sorry for the crap picture quality too. My phone has issues focusing and my camera is currently AWOL. Oh and I also gifted myself a shit ton of games on Steam and my cousin was nice enough to 'buy' me Pokemon GO (so he claimed). So I've basically spent the whole afternoon today walking around my parents back paddock on the hunt for some pokemon. So yeah, was a good day overall and now when people actually ask me my age I won't be wrong when I tell them I'm 23 (been thinking I was 23 for months now).

  

On another note I've successfully enrolled in my course and so the whole writing course thing is DEFINITELY happening now. So that's exciting. I'm particularly keen to attend the script writing class. Should be good.

My life update:

Work: Lately work has been really good. I'm still not getting along with my boss, but I don't usually see her most shifts. Usually I'm either working on days when she's not in or I'm working in the afternoon while she's on in the morning. Anyway, I've been working quite a bit and have managed to maintain a good 20 to 25 hours per week. So while I'm earning quite a bit right now between work and study I don't have too much spare time (or maybe I would if I was better at organising myself).

University: I'm in my exam period at the moment and my last exam is tomorrow. So wish me luck because I'll bloody need it. After this exam I will be leaving university for a while. I've applied for a year off, during which I'm either going to just keep working or do another course in professional writing and editing. Haven't yet told my parents that I'm doing this, but I can guarantee that they're going to love it but I'm pretty set with the idea now. I've already done all the paperwork, applied for the course, and shown the right people some examples of my work and they've pretty much guaranteed me a spot... but in the end whether or not I actually do this course is all going to depend on money and the government.

Writing: I haven't written much over the last month really. I just can't focus on it at the moment and everything I've been writing lately comes out as a garbled mess anyway. Hopefully once exams are over I can pick it back up. 

Other: Okay, so last journal I mentioned that I was going to start doing judo... well that never happened. By the way, have I told you guys I'm going to New Zealand in December? Pretty excited for that. I'll probably get to see snow again and the boyf will get to see it for the first time. So yeah, that'll be cool. But mostly I'm going to see if New Zealand has anything left that I can claim for Australia and market it worldwide as an Australian invention.

So in my time between the end of this week and August I have set myself these goals:
- Post on DA chapters 1 and 2 of Third Space.
- Get back into Plight and get Plight to betas (if they want it).
- Finish all beta reading I have lined up.
- Fix Crown.
- Work out who the shit I'm going to vote for in the upcoming election because they're all a bunch of twonks and are making the decision hard for me.

My priority here is beta reading and Plight, everything else will come second.
